CORRECTIONS DIVISION COMMANDER

Captain Deron McMaster was hired by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office February 1, 1993. He was initially assigned as a Patrol Deputy in the Bend area. Since that time he has worked as Traffic Deputy, Field Training Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Administrative Lieutenant. He was promoted to the rank of Captain on July 1, 2015 and is assigned as the Corrections Division Commander.

Captain McMaster is a United States Air Force veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve in October 2007 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He holds Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory and Management certificates from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. He is a 2005 graduate of the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association Command College.

Captain McMaster is an active member of the community serving as a board member in the Central Oregon Police Chaplaincy. He is active in a local church in the community. He has volunteered as a Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster, coached youth travel baseball, Little League baseball and USA Hockey sanctioned youth inline hockey.
