On May 15, 2013, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of animal neglect at the address on North Highway 97. The owner of the property reported the neglect after seeing the animals’ conditions.

The property owner leases the property to the livestock owner. Our office applied for a search warrant during the course of the investigation and executed the search warrant on May 16th, resulting in the seizure 30 animals. A majority of the animals showed varying degrees of animal neglect. No one was identified as living on the property at the time.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Posse assisted in loading the livestock. The stock was then transported to the Sheriff’s Office Large Animal Rescue and Shelter.

The animals will be provided food, water, and veterinary care at the Rescue and Shelter. Any veterinary recommendations for the overall welfare of the animals will be followed.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is continuing.
