Responsibilities and Services

The members of the Detective ​​Division are specialists responsible for investigating serious crimes against persons and property to include but not limited to: homicide, assaults, sex crimes, child abuse and neglect, burglary, major thefts, fraud, and computer crimes. 

Personnel assigned to the Detective ​​Division possess a special skill in interviewing, crime scene investigations, warrant preparation (search and arrest type), evidence collection and preservation, constitutional issues (search and seizure, Miranda warnings, etc), and interpersonal relations. We also operate a Street Crimes Unit (SCU) that’s works on quality of life issues such as low level drugs and property crimes.

This ​Unit also has representatives who are on the Tri-County Major ​Incident Team (a multi-jurisdictional team of investigators for major incidents); the Multi-Disciplinary Child Abuse Team; Sexual Assault Resource Team; and the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team (C.O.D.E.).
