Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Deflection Program

Deflection is a community program to help people get rapid access to drug treatment. People found in possession of small user amounts of controlled substances may be eligible. Police officers have the ability to take people directly to treatment services instead of jail in many cases. The program also works closely with the court, Parole and Probation, the District Attorney's Office, and defense lawyers to help people in need of treatment. Clients are assigned to a Peer Navigator and offered wrap around services to include birth certificate, ID, resume help, job search, housing help, transportation assistance, health insurance sign up assistance, medication assisted treatment, detox services, DHS coordination, and referrals to other services as appropriate. We help transform lives quickly to help people improve their lives in positive ways. Stopping the cycle of addiction, crime and incarceration is our goal. Life just gets a whole lot better for people who stop using drugs. Many people in recovery are living testaments to how this benefits both the individual and community.

We utilize the Taylor Center (part of Bestcare Treatment Services) as our operating location in the community. Bestcare and Ideal Option are our contracted providers for Peer Support Navigators. Both companies offer treatment directly, and refer as appropriate to other partners locally as well as around the state.

If you, a friend or a family member are looking for help with addiction, alcoholism or homelessness, please stop by or call the Taylor Center for support. The office is located at 358 NE Marshall Ave, Bend OR or call 541-585-0008.
