Calls for Service Response Times

In June 2022 the Records Division completed a study of response times to Level 1 and Level 2 priority calls by Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Deputies.

In reviewing the data, there were anomalies in response times noted. For example, Search and Rescue/Special Services calls for service often result in lengthy response times due to remote locations and difficult terrain. Additionally, calls can be suspended to allow a deputy to respond to a higher priority call, resulting in substantially longer response times. The tables shown only represent those calls for service responded to by deputies of the patrol division and significant anomalies were removed from the averages.

Priority 1 Calls (Immediate Threat to Life)

Description: Level 1 calls are in-progress incidents that convey an imminent threat to life, or in which there is a reason to believe that a continuing serious threat to life exists.

Priority 2 Calls (Immediate Threat to Property or Possible Threat to Life)

Description: Level 2 calls are calls of an emergency nature where continuing criminal activity is present (actively in progress) and there is substantial risk of major property damage or loss. Level 2 calls also include calls of the possible threat to life, i.e.: physical/verbal domestics in progress, or heated verbal disputes of any type.
