Calls for Service Response Times

On September 7, 2016 the Records Unit completed a study of response times to level 1 and 2 priority calls for service by Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The data was that collectively compiled through the Deschutes County Dispatch Center’s CAD program.

In reviewing the collected data there were anomalies noted, such as SAR/Special Services calls for service response times which greatly influenced/increased the averages in not only the individual patrol districts served by the Sheriff’s Office but the county-wide response to calls for service average as well. Also, a call could be suspended for a higher priority call, which would show a longer response time.

The accompanying tables for calendar years of 2013/14 (combined), 2015 and 2016 only represent those calls for service responded to by the deputies of the patrol division of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office. The data shows a slight downward trend in response times to level 1 and 2 priority calls combined as well as level 1 priority calls by themselves county-wide.

Priority 1 Calls (Immediate Threat To Life)

Description: Priority 1 calls are in-progress incidents that convey an imminent threat to life, or in which there is a reason to believe that a continuing serious threat to life exists.

Priority 2 Calls (Immediate Threat To Property or Possible Threat To Life)

Description: Priority two calls are calls of an emergency nature where continuing criminal activity is present (actively in progress) and there is substantial risk of major property damage or loss. Priority two calls also include calls of the possible threat to life, i.e.: physical/verbal domestics in progress, or heated verbal disputes of any type.
