Deschutes Alerts

In Deschutes County, we use two systems to send out information during emergencies. Read more below to opt-in to one or both systems.

Deschutes Alerts

Deschutes Alerts allows you to opt-in to receive notifications via phone call, text message, and e-mail based on locations you care about. You can choose to receive notifications about events that may affect your home, workplace, children’s schools, etc. Notifications include information about emergency evacuations, severe weather, flooding, gas leaks, police activity and more.

Event Subscriptions

Event Subscriptions allows you to anonymously sign up for notifications specific to an event you might be attending, or to prescribed fire and wildfire alerts. By texting the event’s keyword (advertised at the event), you’ll be anonymously signed up to receive notifications for emergencies happening in or near the area of interest. None of your information is stored or visible and you can opt-out at any time.

Subscribe to events by texting the key word for the event to 888777. Key words will be advertised at the event.

Key Word Subscription Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Deschutes Alerts offers an anonymous opt-in text notification system for certain events. These are based on a key word.

How do I opt-in?
Text the key word you are interested in (ie. DCFAIR, BBRALERTS, SRALERTS, etc.) to 888777 and you’ll be subscribing to emergency alerts that are specific to that event or issue.

How do I opt-out?
You can opt-out at any time by texting the word stop. After texting STOP you'll receive a reply with a list of your active subscriptions to choose from.

What will you use this for?
Emergency Services uses this system to send out alerts for emergencies happening in or near the area of interest or specific to an event such as the Deschutes County Fair & Expo.

Do you keep my information?
No. We never get access to your phone number, name, location, or any other identifying information.

Does this mean I don’t need to sign up for a full Deschutes Alerts profile?
If you live or work in Deschutes County, we still encourage you to opt-in for Deschutes Alerts notifications based on your address. The full Deschutes Alerts system offers more ways to contact you, messages are geographically targeted and are generally more detailed.

Visit Deschutesalerts.org to sign up.

Will I have to subscribe more than once?
Some key words such as DCFAIR will automatically expire and you will have to opt-in again next year. Other alerts such as SRALERTS do not expire and if you want to stop receiving messages you will need to opt-out.

We strongly encourage anyone who lives or works in Deschutes County to sign up for Deschutes Alerts. When attending an event in Deschutes County, look for signage on how to subscribe to Event Subscriptions.
