During a Disaster - Volunteering

Once you have your own family prepared, you may choose to volunteer for organizations that help others during emergencies. Volunteers make an important difference every day, but this is especially true during disasters. In most cases, volunteers are expected to apply in advance, pre-register and receive training. Some examples of volunteer opportunities that would be utilized during emergencies are:

• American Red Cross
• Deschutes County Public Health Reserve Corps
• Deschutes County Search and Rescue
• Deschutes County ARES (Amateur Radio)
• Deschutes County Reserve Deputies
• Volunteer Firefighters/EMTs (check with your respective fire department)
• City Police Department Reserve Police Officers and Volunteers (check with your respective police department)
