Deflection Drug Treatment Program
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Deflection Service
Deflection is a community program to help people get rapid access to drug treatment. People struggling with addiction may be eligible by asking any police officer or the Taylor Center for Deflection for help. People do not have to be in legal trouble to ask for help. In many cases, police officers can also take people directly to treatment services rather than to jail. The program also works closely with the court, Parole and Probation, the District Attorney’s Office, and defense lawyers to help people in need of treatment.
Clients are assigned to a Peer Navigator and offered wraparound services, including assistance with birth certificates, IDs, resumes, job searches, housing, transportation, health insurance sign-up, medication-assisted treatment, detox services, DHS coordination, and referrals to other services as appropriate. We help transform lives quickly, enabling people to improve their lives in positive ways. Stopping the cycle of addiction, crime, and incarceration is our goal. Life just gets a whole lot better for people who stop using drugs. Many people in recovery are living testaments to the benefits this offers both individuals and communities.

We use the Taylor Center (part of Bestcare Treatment Services) as our community operating location. Bestcare and Ideal Option are our contracted providers for Peer Support Navigators. Both companies offer treatment directly and refer as appropriate to other partners locally and around the state.
If you, a friend, or a family member is looking for help with addiction, alcoholism, or homelessness, please stop by or call the Taylor Center for support. The office is located at 358 NE Marshall Ave, Bend, OR, or call 541-585-0008.
